Leonardo and Simon are two innocent souls that found themselves struggling, and got rescued just in time by the Wildlife Friends Foundation Thailand (WFFT), where they actually met. Leonardo – an African spurred turtle – arrived first, after a rescue team saved him from a miserable life in a Bangkok zoo.

Simon, on the other hand was taken at this rescue center many years after. The poor baby cow lost his leg after a terrible accident, and a group of kind people saved him from his way to a slaughterhouse and brought in. Here, he got a prosthetic leg, so he could walk, and the team was already looking for a place to move him in, where to feel more comfy and safe.

“We decided to house him temporarily in a large open field enclosure within the WFFT Rescue Center where he could recover from his ordeal,” WFFT announced. “We had then planned to move him into a field where we house two other rescued cows.”

However, relocating Simon got out of the question after he found comfort in a very unlikely companion. The moment he met Leonardo it was love at first sight. The two rescued animals, seemed destined to each other, and the way they bonded, since the beginning, surprised even the staff at the center.

“To the surprise of us all Simon the cow has formed a strong bond with the large tortoise, Leonardo,” WFFT explained. “They are often seen following each other around, sharing meals and resting together. We hope this unusual friendship continues to flourish.”
