In 1962, the Super Sport variant of the Impala distinguished itself through subtle trim differences. Adorned with Super Sport badging, front bucket seats, and special wheel covers, these cars exuded a distinct allure. While the option of a six-cylinder engine was available, most enthusiasts opted for the V8 powerplants, ranging from the iconic 283 small-block to the legendary 409. Although we cannot confirm if the seller’s car retains its original numbers-matching engine, it does feature remnants of a 283 engine paired with a 2-speed Powerglide automatic transmission.
The seller provides two sets of photos, showcasing the car’s heartbreaking journey from being abandoned in the woods to its current resting place on a trailer. These images represent a before-and-after tale, showcasing the Impala SS’s longing for its glory days. The original paint scheme, identified as code 973, once boasted a striking white-over-red combination.
