A poor bear that has been forced to endure the toughest life a wild animal can ever do, finally enjoys her moment of freedom. After over 20 years in a circus, where she experienced the saddest life, the bear named Cholita, returns where she belongs – in the wilderness, and her reaction is beautiful to behold!
For the now 25-year-old spectacled bear(an endangered species), the nightmare begun when she was just a cub. Taken away from her mom, Cholita ended up in a Peruvian circus. Since then she was forced to live in tiny cages from where she got out only when she performed for people. But even worst, the treatment she got during her stay there, is unimaginable. Decades after, she still bears the marks of that rough life she had been through.
The sad bear got a glimpse of hope, when the officials noticed the circus was working illegally, and all the animals have been confiscated. But, sadly, Cholita didn’t got her chance to enjoy freedom, because from the circus she was moved into a zoo, and any hope seemed to be lost for the neglected animal.
But everything changed, ten years after, when Jan Creamer, president of Animal Defenders International (ADI), accidentally learned about Cholita’s story. Determined to find her a better home, Creamer only stopped when the bear was finally free. Initially moved at a ADI rescue center, Cholita has been eventually taken to her forever home – the Taricaya Ecological Reserve, a place she can call herself home, as the area is known as a natural habitat for the spectacled bears.
After a four-days journey, Cholita finally arrives into his new home. A place where she can live peacefully and enjoy her life until the end of her days. Watch Cholita taking her first steps to freedom, below!
